The choice of Sopra Steria
Jointly managed by the Directorate General of Armaments and the Directorate of Aeronautical Maintenance, this project was entrusted to our partner Sopra Steria. It will simplify maintenance operations and improve the availability of airplanes, helicopters and drones in service in the armed forces. The aim is to consolidate all the information concerning maintenance activities of the various aircraft fleets in a single digital tool, so as to facilitate their access and operation.

Maintenance in aeronautical operational condition: the Ministry of the Armed Forces orders a unique information system
Florence Parly, Minister of the Armed Forces, visited the premises of the Sopra Steria company on March 23, chosen to set up a unifying information system for maintenance in aeronautical operational condition (MCO-A). Called Brasidas (after a famous strategic and tactical Spartan general), this system will directly participate in improving the availability of aircraft. The aim is to bring together all the information concerning the maintenance activities of the various aircraft fleets in a single digital tool, so as to facilitate their access and operation.
A major item in the 2019-2025 Military Planning Law (LPM) to reform the MCO-A, launched by the Minister of the Armed Forces in 2017, is intended to significantly improve the availability of aircraft for the three armed services.
On February 5, 2021, the Directorate General for Armaments (DGA) awarded the company Sopra Steria, chosen from among several competing manufacturers, the Brasidas framework agreement and a first contract for an amount of 14 million euros. Brasidas is expected to be operational within 18 months, for the technical maintenance and logistics of the fleets of Caracal helicopters and Patroller drones.
Jointly led by the DGA and the Aeronautical Maintenance Department (DMAé), the development of the Brasidas information system will be based on a proven civil aeronautical maintenance software package. Adapted as necessary, Brasidas will cover all activities under the MCO-A.
Deployed in several stages, Brasidas will provide the framework of a homogeneous information system to all MCO-A businesses (maintenance, logistics, documentation, supply chain management, etc.) and to all fleets of aircraft. This alignment of the MCO-A information systems will simplify the maintenance operations carried out in the forces, facilitate the situation assessment and the piloting of the MCO-A.
By guaranteeing digital continuity with partners and better use of data, Brasidas will directly contribute to improving the availability of planes, helicopters and drones in service in the armed forces.
